What is meditation? And why Meditate?


Meditation can mean different things to different people. In its raw essence, it is emptying the mind of thoughts to rest in pure consciousness. Sounds simple, huh? Try it for yourself - go ahead - just for one minute, see if you can simply stop thinking. It's much more difficult than you think.

There are many styles of meditation with countless meditation techniques. Some, you may find easy and more suitable to your disposition. Others may take a lifetime to master. Finding what suits you takes time and practice.

The benefits of meditation can include clearer thinking, mindfulness, reduced stress, increased happiness, and some people even report improved general health and pain relief. Results can be vastly different person to person. Without regular practice, it is hard to see any result or benefit. The key is to find time to practice regularly. 

Meditating alone can very very difficult. Your mind wanders so you find yourself daydreaming about the future or rehashing old memories. Most people benefit from attending group mediation sessions or guided meditation. Contact me to find out more.
